Power-ups are a bit key to success in World War Toons, and can easily turn the tide in battle. Each weapon and character type can excel on the battlefield though, and you can always pick up another class’s weapon when that character dies. Loadouts are fixed for each character – which does make each type a bit easier to get used to at the expense of being locked in to certain default weapons. Your larger characters do more damage, with some basically being able to kill in two hits, but being giant targets. Faster characters cover more ground and do less damage – but allow you to stick and move on the battlefield. You’ve got a few different classes to choose from, with each having a primary and secondary weapon. While I couldn’t find any anvil drops, I did have a blast blowing people up with large novelty bombs. You can tell that the developers grew up on Looney Tunes marathons given all of the tropes from those evident here. World War Toons takes players through a cartoony ride with plenty of shooting and a touch of laughter. First-person shooters have become one of gaming’s biggest genres over the past twenty years, but family-friendly versions of them have been in short supply.
